Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi apologizes for 'dancing with girls'

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi apologized for dancing with girls of tea garden workers community at a function in Golaghat district on Wednesday when the nation was in mourning as a mark of respect to former President APJ Abdul Kalam, who died on Monday while delivering a lecture at IIM-Shillong.

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi went on television to apologise after pictures surfaced of him dancing at a tea estate in Kaziranga at a time when the state is mourning former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's demise.



"I should not have danced...I had forgotten for a moment about Kalam's death and I apologise for this," the chief minister said.
